Drapebook is a colour analysis web app made by Sundry Mill. The short version: your photos and your camera picture never leave your device. There is no account and nothing is uploaded.

Your photos and camera

When you use the camera or choose a photo, the picture is read inside your browser tab. Face finding (Google's MediaPipe Face Landmarker), the colour reading, the drapes, the palette card and the video are all computed on your device. The face model and its code are downloaded from this site, like a font, and nothing flows back the other way: no picture, no frame, no face measurements and no colour readings are sent to us or anyone else.

The camera stops when you reach your result or leave the page. Videos, palette cards and wallpapers you save go straight to your own device.

The app also blocks requests it does not need. The MediaPipe library tries to send usage statistics (timings, no images) to Google; Drapebook stops those before they leave the browser, twice over.

What is stored, and where

Only in your own browser's local storage, which you can clear at any time in your browser settings:

• Your last result: the season's name, the close call if there was one, and the date. No image.
• Your Pro licence key, if you buy Pro or paste a key, so Pro stays on in that browser.
• Study answers, only if you choose to help us measure Drapebook and fill in the study form under your result: a code word you choose, the season Drapebook gave you, the season your colour analyst gave you, the skin tone swatch you pick (optional), your device, and Drapebook's readings of your colouring as numbers. Never a picture, never your name. They stay on your device unless you send them to us yourself (below), and the form has a button that clears them.

What is sent

One thing, and only if you use Pro: your licence key and your season's name (and the runner up in a close call) go to drapebook.com, which checks the key with Polar and sends back your guide. Downloading the 12 season guide PDF sends the key the same way. Neither ever carries a picture.

A second thing, only if you choose to: a study row. The study form does not send anything by itself. It opens an email in your own mail app with your row in it, addressed to support@sundrymill.com, and you decide whether to press send. If you do, we receive your email address along with the row. We keep the row (the numbers and seasons listed above) to count how often Drapebook agrees with a colour analyst, overall and by skin tone, and to improve the app; we do not keep your email address with it and we never publish a single person's row. To have your row deleted, email the same address with your code word.

Payments

Pro is sold by Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record, which collects your email and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your email, what you bought, your licence key and whether you ticked the box to hear about updates. We use your email to send your receipt with your licence key, and, only if you ticked that box, occasional news about Drapebook and other Sundry Mill products; every such email has a way to stop them. Receipts are sent through Resend.

After checkout, Polar sends you back to drapebook.com/pro, which reads your order from Polar and switches Pro on in that browser; this works for 24 hours after the checkout. The page address carries the checkout id: the page removes it from the address straight away, and it is never sent to our analytics. The key itself is kept in your browser and is not shown on the page; it is in your receipt email for other devices.

This website

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, requested page) for a short time to run the service. The home page, this page, the terms and the Pro page count anonymous page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies. The drape test page itself has no analytics at all. No advertising or tracking pixels run on this site.

Children

Drapebook is meant for people aged 13 and over. Pro purchases need an adult's payment method.

Clear your browser's site data for drapebook.com to remove the stored result and key. To ask about or delete anything we hold from a purchase (your email and order), write to us below.
